The program, titled “Reverie” takes us on a journey through some of the most loved repertoire of the instrument and which draws on the rich history of classical guitar. A journey consisting of dances and dreams, colors, timbres, this program showcases the expressiveness of the guitar.

A native of Palermo, Italy, GIORGIO BUTTITTA was a student of Maestro Maurizio Norrito at the Conservatorio di Musica Vincenzo Bellini di Palermo where he has obtained degrees in Classical Guitar with top honors. He has also studied under the guidance of Maestro Alberto Ponce at the Ecole Normale de Musique “Alfred Cortot” in Paris, where he obtained a Performance Diploma with top honors and a Concert Artist Diploma with top marks. Additional studies have been wtih Maestros Claudio Marcotulli, Walter Zanetti, Sharon Isbin, Alberto Ponce and other international teachers.
He has also won several awards in national, European and international competitions – Second Prize, Emilio Pujol International Competition; Third Prize, Valle del barocco European Competition; First Prize, Giulio Rospigliosi National Competition; First Prize, Balestrate City National Competition; First Prize, Antonino Miserendino European Competition; and Second Prize Benedetto Albanese National Competition.
Since 1998 Giorgio has actively concertized in Italy and other European countries, leading him to play in important seasons and festivals including the Le Seicorde season organized by the friends of music of Palermo, the concert season of the friends of music of Trapani, the concert season of the Conservatory of Music of Mainz, the International Guitar Festival of Ascoli Piceno, and the concert season of the Salle Cortot in Paris. He often collaborates with musical organizations such as the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and the Ente Luglio Musicale Trapanese as a guitarist in concert seasons.
He plays regularly in the trio “Trio Chitarristico Siciliano” with which he is planning a recording of music written by Sicilian composers. He also performs with the soprano Roberta Scalavino in a program entitled “Canciones”, with the Maestro Marcello Enna with whom he has created a series of “Histoire du Tango” concerts, and the Maestro Maurizio Rocca performing “Salotto in musica” featuring music by Italian composers who lived between the 18th and 19th centuries.
